Mastodon: Terms of participation

The “candle arch - Hetzner Schwibbogen” giveaway begins on 12 December 2025, 10 AM (CET) and ends on 17 December 2025, 3 PM (CET). This will be referred to as the “participation period” below.

The organizer of the giveaway is Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. Only natural persons of legal age are eligible to participate. Participants are only permitted to enter the giveaway with their own account on Mastodon. All participants can only take part in the prize drawing once with their account. Employees of Hetzner Online GmbH and its affiliated companies and their relatives are excluded from participating in the giveaway.

Hetzner Online GmbH reserves the right to exclude participants who violate these terms of participation, who use unauthorized aids, who otherwise attempt to gain an unjustified advantage by manipulating the giveaway, and who provide incomplete and/or false information about themselves from participating in the giveaway. Hetzner may do so without providing the participants with the specific reasons, and may deny said participants of their winnings or, if necessary, may reclaim the winnings.

Any account who follows us on Mastodon and boosts the post on Mastodon during the participation period can take part. Prizes will be drawn randomly after the participation period.

To enter the giveaway, simply complete the following steps during the participation period:

Prizes will be drawn randomly after the participation period.

Hetzner will announce the winners publicly with a post on Mastodon, unless participants object by sending an email with their objection to mastodon-contact@hetzner.com. If an objection is raised, these participants will only be contacted privately. Hetzner will announce the winners of prizes without guarantee of accuracy. The prizes are non-transferable to third parties. Prizes in kind cannot be exchanged, collected by the winners, or paid out in cash as a substitute. Participants can only win once.

If the winners do not reach out within 2 days of the post being online, they will forfeit their claim to the prize. In this case, Hetzner Online GmbH is entitled to carry out a replacement drawing and transfer the prize to other participants.

Prizes will only be sent to the winners at the postal address provided afterwards via e-mail. Any costs incurred for sending the prizes will be borne by the organizer. Any additional costs associated with claiming the prize are to be borne by the winner. Responsibility and liability for the prize is transferred to the winners when the prize is handed over to the delivery company by the organizer. Hetzner Online GmbH is not liable for any delivery damage. In addition, Hetzner Online GmbH is liable for intent and gross negligence as well as for slight negligence in the event of a breach of cardinal obligations in the context of the implementation of this competition and the drawing and dispatch of the prizes. Any further liability of Hetzner Online GmbH is excluded with the exception of injury to body, life and health and of claims under the German Product Liability Act.

Should unforeseeable circumstances arise for which Hetzner Online GmbH is not responsible and which prevent the original prize from being awarded to the winners, the winners will receive an appropriate replacement prize.

Hetzner Online GmbH reserves the right to cancel, terminate or change the nature of the giveaway in whole or in part at any time without prior notice and without giving reasons. This applies in particular if Hetzner Online GmbH is unable to guarantee the proper execution of the competition for technical or legal reasons. In such a case, the participants are not entitled to any claims. Legal recourse is excluded for participants. The law of the Federal Republic of Germany exclusively applies. In addition, the General Terms and Conditions of Hetzner Online GmbH apply.

Should individual provisions of these conditions of participation be or become invalid, this does not affect the legal validity of the remaining provisions. They will be replaced by an appropriate provision that comes closest to the intended purpose of the invalid provision.

Data protection

Participants will be asked to provide some personal data (first and last name, email address, complete postal address) in the event that they win a prize in the competition. Participants expressly agree that Hetzner Online GmbH can collect and process their personal data for the purpose of conducting the giveaway. Participants also agree that Hetzner Online can send them messages about the sweepstake to the email address they have provided.

Hetzner Online GmbH will use the participants' data exclusively for the purpose of carrying out and processing the giveaway. The legal ground for data collection is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a. 1 lit. a. Participants can revoke their consent to the collection of data at any time. If participants would like to revoke their participation, or if they would like to make a request about the personal data Hetzner Online has collected for the giveaway, participants should send an email to data-protection@hetzner.com. If participants revoke their participation, they can no longer take part in the sweepstake. If participants have not subscribed to Hetzner's customer newsletter, Hetzner Online GmbH will delete the participants' stored data immediately after the giveaway has been completed.
