Back to Overview

Together with over 120 guests, Hetzner Finland Oy, as part of the Hetzner Group, celebrated the five year anniversary of its Helsinki data center park on 21 April 2023. The first Finnish Hetzner data center went online in the spring of 2018, and since then, thousands of customers have been using Hetzner’s powerful servers for their IT infrastructure.

Hetzner Data Center Park Helsinki has been growing non-stop in the past five years, and now inlcudes five rows of buildings, which house a total of ten data center units, and seven of those are already in active use. Each building measures approximately 4,000 square meters and consists of two data center units, and has capacity for up to 30,000 servers. All in all, the 150,000 square meter campus has space in the future for up to twenty data centers.

“In addition to the German data center parks in Nuremberg and Falkenstein/Vogtland, our Finnish location is popular with our customers and just keeps on growing,” said Christian Fitz, the company spokesman. “Our 50-man team takes care of customers from all over the world — customers who benefit from paying reduced monthly prices on a wide range of our products. These low prices are cost savings that we pass directly onto our customers; they come from the reduced energy prices that we pay in Finland compared to Germany, and also come from the colder climate and lower cooling requirements,” explained Fitz.

As with all of Hetzner’s locations, Data Center Park Helsinki uses cutting edge, innovative technology, and prides itself on the energy efficiency and high availability of its IT infrastructure. Plus, the company uses wind and hydro-based energy to power its entire Finnish operations.

Hetzner is more and more expanding internationally. In the last two years, the company opened two different locations for its cloud products in the USA. The skyrocking demand for forward-looking hosting solutions and cloud services has greatly feuled Hetzner’s overall continued development and growing infrastructure.
