Step into the
world of Hetzner

Not every idea has to be perfect from the start—that’s exactly the idea behind Hetzner Experiments. Instead of spending a long time planning, the team tests new AI approaches directly in live operations and evaluates what actually works. In customer support, this has led to faster pre-sorting and response times for inquiries—a concrete example of how a simple experiment can translate into a measurable benefit in everyday operations.

We’ve summarized the preparations and the first week of testing on the Hetzner Blog.

The Hetzner Cloud network stack is undergoing a major overhaul. This presentation shows how our current network stack is structured, why we are developing a new architecture, and what goals we are pursuing with it. It explains our approach, the reasons behind our technical decisions, and the improvements that the new network stack will bring.

From hardware and supply chains to energy and the software stack: What aspects does sovereignty cover? Strengthening digital self-determination, identifying dependencies, and consciously managing them are key issues in the tech world. Our product manager, Stefan Weiberg, explored the role that European infrastructure and a German provider like Hetzner can play in this context.

Our guest speaker, Gergely Daróczi from Spare Cores, demonstrated how the Hetzner Cloud compares to other cloud providers. To this end, he presented benchmarks and various performance metrics for the respective offerings. The focus was particularly on differences in architecture, workload-specific considerations, and the question of how open benchmarks help engineering teams choose the right size and configuration for their workloads.

Our second guest presentation was given by Maximilian Schilling from Warmwind. The Jena-based startup develops AI agents and relies on large amounts of GPU computing power to do so. In his session, he explained why this computing power in particular is increasingly becoming strategic infrastructure for Europe and what dependencies exist in terms of capacity, supply chains, and infrastructure.
