“We’ve really seen some steady growth. Our first data center went online a little over a year ago, and that unit is now approaching its electric capacity of 1.2 MW. This data center houses both dedicated root servers and Hetzner’s virtual cloud servers. The second DC we complete comprises our colocation center. Now the third DC will, like the first, be home to dedicated root servers and cloud servers, “ said Joonas Terhivuo, CEO at Hetzner Finland.

A brand new 110 kV power substation located next to the park provides the secure power supply for the data center park. The data centers in Helsinki are powered by renewable energy supplied by Vantaan Energia.

    Agile partner in international business

Data Center Park Helsinki’s colocation data center provides an additional IT solution for business and private clients. Colocation services are for customers who want to use their own hardware, but do not want the hassle of running their own data center. They can bring their hardware to the Helsinki colocation center and benefit from Hetzner’s secure facility, which provides a redundant power supply, air conditioning and networking infrastructure.

“For many companies, building or maintaining their own modern and secure data center with reliable availability is simply too expensive. We offer scalable services and products with quick deployment, low costs and the perfect location close to the Helsinki Airport. Both our infrastructure with its fast network connections and our location in Helsinki are ideal for international business,” Terhivuo explained.

    Finnish CEO appointed

Joonas Terhivuo was recently appointed the CEO of Hetzner Finland. He has been working in the company since August 2017 as the Finnish head of data center operations. Until this spring, Hetzner Online’s German executive team managed the Finnish branch of company, too.

“We are pleased with the business development at the Finnish location. Data Center Park Helsinki offers Hetzner Online’s services to local and worldwide customers. Customers with servers in Finland receive support from our local technicians 24/7,” Terhivuo added.

Data Center Park Helsinki will continue to grow in the future. The next three data center units are already under construction, and the site is spacious enough to accommodate 20 data centers. The location in Tuusula currently employs about 25 people. Hetzner’s data center business is growing at all of its locations; new data center units are also under construction at its two German data center parks.
